Inside FolderMind

Your own folder, an assistant that uses it

FolderMind is a folder with instructions for Claude. You open it in the Claude desktop app: you choose what information to give it, and the assistant uses it to help with deadlines and things to do.

What happens when you use it

  1. 1

    You provide information

A date, document or thing to do goes into the folder when you give it to the assistant.

  2. 2

Claude reads it with the kit instructions

When you open Claude, the app uses FolderMind's instructions and the information in the folder.

  3. 3

    You find the next step

Ask for your day-at-a-glance overview or find a deadline with what you need to prepare.

The folder stays on your computer. The data in private does not reach FolderMind. Text Claude reads is processed on Anthropic's servers under your Claude Pro subscription terms. During an update, you can choose whether to send individual lines from your instructions.

Three distinct parts

What is inside the folder

Each part has a different purpose and a different rule when you update FolderMind.

FolderMind

Product instructions

_system

They make the assistant work and include the tool Claude runs inside the folder. They are not modified and change only with a signed update.

You decide

Your instructions

custom

General preferences such as “answer me with a table”. They survive every update. Before sharing any with FolderMind to improve the kits, you can review each line and remove it.

They stay yours

Your data

private

Notes, bills, deadlines and documents. They stay on your computer, FolderMind cannot access them and updates do not touch them.

Everyday use

How to get the most from it

After first setup you can ask questions normally, including about topics without a kit. These prompts help you start and build your folder one step at a time.

  • Give it something as it arrives

“The bill is due on Thursday.” A few details are enough to begin: the assistant records what is useful and asks about anything missing.

  • Ask for your day at a glance

“What do I need to do today?” Find urgent things to do, deadlines and next steps from your installed kits.

  • Say when it is done

“I paid the bill.” A thing to do closes in the folder when you tell the assistant, not when you tick an item on the dashboard.

  • Complete a kit when you need it

“Let's complete Home.” The assistant checks information you provided, asks for more a little at a time and writes after you agree.

  • Change how it works for you

“From now on, keep answers shorter.” It records a general preference that survives updates.

  • Ask it about FolderMind

“How do I make a backup?” If it can read the web in that session and you have not turned it off, it can check the current FAQ and guides on the site; otherwise it answers from the installed instructions and points you to the site for possible changes.

Control and continuity

  • The assistant prepares actions outside the folder and asks for confirmation: it never pays or writes to someone on its own.
  • For a backup or to move computers, keep custom and private.
  • The morning email is optional: it starts only if your computer is on and the Claude app is open at the chosen time.

Where to start

Choose FolderMind Base on its own or add the kits you need. After the download, the guide walks you through opening it with Claude for the first time.
